It's 1981 and friends Quincy (Omar Epps) and Monica (Sanaa Lathan) are 11 years old with big dreams of making it in the NBA. their love-hate relationship follows them wherever they go until they eventually fall in love with each other in their final year of high school. But when an argument with Quincy's father turns nasty, the two go their separate ways.
